Providence St. Mary Foundation
This November, Whitman College Baseball is growing mustaches and raising funds for the Providence St. Mary Foundation Jan Erickson Lifesaver Fund!
The Jan Erickson Lifesaver Fund provides breast cancer screenings and diagnostic imaging to women in need who do not have the insurance or resources to afford a mammogram or additional necessary imaging. It was the dream of Jan Erickson, a former Whitman employee who passed away from breast cancer, to establish a fund to enable all women in the community access to a yearly mammogram.
Breast cancer screenings can save lives by significantly increasing the chance of detecting cancer at the earliest and most survivable stage. Those with a family history of breast cancer and every woman age 40 years and older are urged to get a mammogram each year. Nationwide, one in eight women will get breast cancer in her lifetime, and in our region, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer.
The goal of this No Shave November initiative, also known as Movember (Movement + November), is to raise awareness and funds to help our community. Please join us in growing your mustache and donating to the Lifesaver Fund this Movember!
Don't forget to tag @gowhitman on social media so we can see your 'stache! Thank you for your support!
